Once, I took up Education not because someone has influenced me, not because advisers got good 2-week compensation (yes, when hired in public) not because teachers are in demand abroad, but studying again was my goal. As young as 16, hopping into the tertiary level, my mind matters only the school's name (of which, is as good as UP), school uniform (wearing above the knee skirt or colored pants), how would I carry if I wear an-inch high heeled black shoes (no more tennis shoes) and a binder in a shoulder bag (no more backpack loaded with thick books and numbers of notebook). Just to look like a matured one, that is. My bad! I settled with an obscure plan ahead.
Well, I guess good fortune back bites me, I lasted school year 2005, then I decided to quit, financial matter though I'm a Dean's lister. Yet, I am thankful with our second year teacher (College of Engineering former Dean), who lectured very well that I learn to appreciate Chemistry. Understand compound names, formulas, making experiments, etc.
She once asked "Why do we need to know the formulas? For future teaching?" Maybe, as a learner it's no help in our daily lives, with just two settings: school and home. I came to a satisfied answer that learning should be discovering, not just memorizing, re-teaching what's in the textbook or manual. Hmmm... That’s what scientists do.
It's from her that I get the idea to check the label of the snacks, RTD, whatever I bought. Now, it's my habit to read the ingredients, the percent daily values of the product, of what does it good and of what are the adverse effects.
I believe I'm destined to catch up school again. Whether I'll be in my early and late 20'. As a grown up, now, I am determined in a pharma laboratory someday (a chemist). Plus, I'd like to wear white gown just to look like a doctor, that is. My goodness! I pray I'm heading in the right direction.
What I gained from spending my two years in West Neg, perhaps, clarified my view in the real world, thus, includes my future workplace and position.
The plans of the diligent lead surely
to plenty, but those of everyone
who is hasty surely to poverty.
Proverbs 21:5
